Procedure for Handling Complaints Regarding Violations of Academic Integrity and Publication Ethics

The editorial board of the journal "AIC Economics and Management" adheres to the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and objectivity when reviewing complaints regarding potential violations of publication ethics. The complaint review procedure is conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication the international organization Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the current legislation of Ukraine, the international organization Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the current legislation of Ukraine.

Complaints regarding violations of academic integrity may be submitted by authors, reviewers, members of the editorial board, readers, or other interested parties. Complaints must be submitted in writing to the editorial office’s email address redakciaviddil@ukr.net and must include information about the complainant (last name, first name, contact information), a description of the alleged violation, a link to the relevant publication or a publication or manuscript, as well as any available evidence or justification of publication or manuscript, as well as any available evidence or justification.

Upon receiving a complaint, the executive editor registers it and forwards it to the editor-in-chief for initial review. At this stage, the complaint is reviewed to ensure it meets the established requirements and that the materials provided are sufficient for further consideration. If the information provided is insufficient, the editorial staff may contact the applicant to request clarification or additional materials.

If a complaint is deemed valid for further consideration, the editorial board will initiate an internal investigation. If necessary, independent experts or members of the editorial board who have no conflict of interest regarding the subject of the complaint may be consulted. During the review process, the authors of the publication in question or other individuals involved in its preparation may be asked to provide clarification.

The time required to review a complaint depends on the complexity of the case and the volume of necessary materials; however, it generally does not exceed 30–60 calendar days from the date of registration.

Based on the results of the complaint review, the editorial board may make one of the following decisions: dismiss the complaint as unfounded; recommend that the authors make corrections to the manuscript or published article; reject the manuscript; retract the published article; notify the institution where the authors are employed of the identified violations; restrict the authors' ability to submit materials to the collection for a specified period.

The editorial board will notify the applicant and the authors of the decision in writing. If a decision is made to retract a published article, the relevant information will be posted on the journal’s official website, stating the reasons for the retraction in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality of the complaint review process, impartial decision-making, and adherence to the principles of fairness. All participants in the complaint review process are required to avoid conflicts of interest and act in accordance with the standards of academic integrity.

Individuals who disagree with the decision have the right to file a substantiated appeal with the editorial board within 30 calendar days of receiving notification of the outcome of the complaint review.
